Day 6

Day 6 complete.....Chest is officially closed! A huge milestone for Liam!!! Today was a big day. In 6 days of life he has experienced more then a average person would in 90 years. He is such a strong little boy! He is urinating extremely well... Almost to well where they might need to start putting some fluids back in so he doesn't dry up!! Weight is dropping like crazy, looking more and more like himself everyday! This is a roller coaster ride for him. Vitals up and down all day long, breathing tube was increased a little today since the closing of his chest and a decrease in oxygen levels called PO2, a little concerning because of his pulmonary vein issues but chest X-ray was normal and oxygen levels seem to rise after oxygen was increased! Doctors not concerned since he had his chest closed today! But mommy does not like to here things like that!! Do not want any set backs. My man cannot handle anymore major trauma There are times now where he is breathing over his breathing tube which is wonderful!! We have learned from 8-10 he wants to be awake'! Tonight he was very alert, not agitated which is what they like!! While I was pregnant that was his busy time as well!! Crazy how things like that stay the same! They started him on nutrients and fats called lipids today! Time to start eating.... Hopefully things only progress from here... Chris and I met some wonderful people here! All of his nurses and doctors and staff have been amazing, they are all so friendly and so smart! We are grateful for all of them., we would not be where we are today without any of them!! Also so many wonderful families on the PCTU (pediatric cardio thoracic unit) going through similar things! You can feel the heartache for their child!! It's not an easy place to be!! I met a mother today who's little girl was never diagnose with her congenital heart defect till she became ill after 7 days... Now she is in the bay unit by Liam fighting for her life! Another family, who I am fond of has a 3 month old in who is not in the ICU but on Liam's floor, she has had a rough road, she only weighs 8lbs.. Very slow progression from birth just recently went into heart failure, no open heart surgeries for her but still dangerous!! Jasmine and Hope and all the precious little ones and their families need prayers too!! Proverbs 3: 5-6. Trust in the lord with all your heart, and not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him and he will make your path straight!!!
